"It (spontaneity) propels the individual towards an adequate response to a new situation or a new response to an old situation. Thus, while creativity is related to the act itself, spontaneity is related to the warming up to the readiness of the act."
Jacob Moreno
Enter the field and distant meadows not as a modern hunter-warrior driven by fierce purpose—though that energy has its place—and not to collect a particular flower, herb, or mushroom, but simply to encounter the life hidden in unseen spaces.
Move at the pace your Heart prefers, embodied and playfully present. Speech is unnecessary. As we Enlarge, we become as unhurried as drifting clouds. We feel warmth on the skin and air that stirs, gusts, or suddenly stills. We breathe in pleasant and unpleasant scents and widen into the place—vast and ancient.
To Enlarge, slow down. Reflect on the experience you want to explore and what you hope to gain. Do not seize the first thought. As a path emerges, make sure the outcome you seek is possible. The way we frame a question can sabotage inquiry. Instead of asking, “How do I get this person to change?” ask, “What might I be missing about this relationship?”
Invite willingness and commit to curiosity, the essential states of inquiry. Reflect on what arises and follow your Heart. As a therapist, I do not assume at the start of a session what a client and I will discover, though I want to understand the outcome the client seeks. Approach contemplative Work in the same way: begin with an intention, remain open, and trust that what matters will emerge. This is the Artist’s process—a meeting of the known and unknown. Whether or not you consider yourself creative, allow yourself to be influenced by whatever arises.
